What do I read?

I always get asked for book recommendations. So… I decided to put them on a page as an easy thing for me to point at when I inevitably get asked again.
Now. This list below in not a comprehensive list of things I have read. I’ve only recommended my favourite books below with Amazon links for you to check out. (If you happen to buy a copy through the Amazon link you’ll be helping to sponsor giveaways that I may run).
Keep in mind that books choices are personal! Not everyone is going to love them too.
Happy reading!

Classics
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen – without a doubt the most read book for me. And FREE! The characters (especially the Lizzie’s mother. oh she makes me laugh) just jump off the page. And who can resist Mr Darcy (swoon)
Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier – the writing is romantic and flowery and dark and gorgeous and I love it!

Paranormal Fantasy – YA
Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor – beautifully written and gorgeous world building. Angels and demons and we all know how much I love them 🙂
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern – glorious, glorious writing! Slow building and romantic and lovely. I got lost in the world. Star-crossed magical lovers in a glorious circus
Nevermore by Kelly Creagh – dark Poe-esque paranormal romance. Beautifully written and wonderful concept.
Sleepless by Tracey Ward – beautifully written, although be warned, the ending comes out of no-where and has a killer cliffhanger.

Paranormal/Fantasy – Adult
Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder – great premise, really drew me in but I’m not so sold with the rest of the series
The Elemental Mysteries series by Elizabeth Hunter – Book 1 is FREE! It’s a slow build but stick with it, you won’t regret it!

Urban Fantasy
The infernal Devices series & The Mortal Instruments (1-3) by Cassandra Clare – love. love her world building. just awesome. And the Infernal devices has elements of steampunk in it – oh yeh!
The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher – mix of fantasy and detective. Just started getting into these and they are getting better with every book!

Romance
Sins and Needles by Karina Halle – I don’t do ‘fluffy’ romance like I don’t do ‘fluffy’ men. Camden McQueen is definitely my tattooed badass book boyfriend. Reads like a Quentin Tarrentino film.
Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire – the first ‘romance’ novel I ever loved. Gritty, raw and addictive. Careful, this relationship borders on the decent edge of possessive.
Rule by Jay Crownover – what is it with me and tattooed badasses? Here is another one for you…
Real by Katy Evans – intense and addictive bad boy MMA fighter romance.

Historical
The Luxe by Anna Godbersen – loved that it was set in New York and not the UK
Souless by Gail Carriger – steampunk and fantasy mixed in with the Victorian era? Yes please!
